Why we built it
Dating is broken. Nobody trusts anyone, matches are few and far between, and the products people default to are built for scrolling, not for introductions.
It is worse in the UK. The mainstream apps barely put work into this market, so discovery is thin and the bar is low. And if you have HSV, the stigma turns every match into a conversation you have to time and hope goes well. The platforms that promise to help sit around the edges of the market: low effort, no quality bar, nobody using their real info.
We built Layla to be a proper dating app for the people the market forgot. Every member read by a person, every profile checked before it goes live, so trust is built in from day one. HSV is the filter for who is here, which means the awkward opening you always had to have is already had. What is left is what dating was meant to be.
One last thing. Every other platform we tried had the same feeling to it, heavy, resigned, like everyone had half given up. We hope Layla feels different. It is for people who have not stopped, who want to get on with their lives, and to meet someone who wants the same.
