FAQ

Frequently asked.

Honest answers about who Layla is for and how it works. If something is not covered, write to us and we will add it.

Who is Layla for?

Adults in the UK with HSV. Whether you are looking for something serious, something casual, or somewhere in between, Layla is where you meet the people looking for the same.

What everyone here shares is HSV, verification, and a genuine reason for applying. From that shared starting point on, Layla runs like a regular dating app.

Beyond HSV, we look for members who are honest, kind, ready to meet other people well, and clear about what they are looking for.

Where is Layla available?

Layla is UK only for now, and iOS only for now. The app is available on the UK App Store, and applications are accepted from people living in the UK.

We chose to start in one country rather than spread thinly across many. A curated community works because the matches are real, and real matches need a shared geography. Expansion to other countries and Android will come, but only when we can do it without thinning the experience here.

How does the application work?

You download the app, create an account, and complete a short application: a few photos, some written prompts, and the basics that help us understand who you are and what you are looking for.

A person on our team reads every one. We are not optimising for volume. Approved members become visible to the community we introduce them to. If we say no, we tell you why.

How are matches chosen?

We do not push you a daily deck. When we find someone worth introducing you to, we do. It might take days, it might take longer, but the wait is what makes each introduction mean something.

The matching itself uses serious tech. It weighs what you are looking for (serious, casual, or in between), lifestyle preferences, location, and the basics of compatibility. Because every member has already been through the approval flow, the pool it works from is small and considered rather than infinite.

Better technology, in service of better care. The point is to spend more time on each person, not less.

Do I need to disclose my HSV status to other members?

No. Every member of Layla has HSV, so the conversation is done before you start. That is one of the main reasons the community exists.

We still encourage members to have open, honest conversations about sexual health as relationships move in that direction. Living well with HSV is a normal part of life, and it is still your health, so it deserves the same care you would give any other part of getting to know someone.

Is my membership private?

Very. Your profile is only visible to the members we choose to introduce you to. Block by area, block by keyword, block by name, and choose who sees you at all.

We do not sell data. We do not share profile information with third parties for marketing. We do not run public profiles or search-indexed pages of our members. Applications, photos, and messages stay inside Layla, and are deletable in one click if you leave.

Outside the app, your Layla membership is yours to share or not share.

Is there a cost to join?

Free right now. Applying is free, and if you are approved, membership is free while we are helping early members find each other. We are doing what we can, for as long as we can.

If Layla grows to the point where sourcing and vetting the right members needs real funding, we will introduce a price. It is not decided yet, and we will tell you before anything changes. When and if that day comes, every pound goes into scaling the fix: finding more of the right members, vetting more carefully, and making Layla work for more people who need it. One fair membership, no hidden tiers, no in-app upsells.

How do I join?

Download Layla from the App Store, create an account, and start your application. We will guide you through it. If you are approved, you will get a notification and access to the community.

Layla is on iOS for now. An Android version will follow when it makes sense.

What if I do not have HSV?

Layla is not the right community for you. We built Layla specifically for adults with HSV, so that the disclosure conversation is done before you meet anyone here. Joining without that shared starting point would not work for you or for the members who are here for that reason.

There are many excellent UK dating apps, and we would encourage you to find one that fits.

What is a high-quality match?

Someone ready to build a relationship. Someone with the traits worth building one around. Someone whose life is trending in a good direction, not just holding still.

We look for readiness, kindness, honesty, and someone the community would be glad to meet. If we would happily introduce them to a friend of ours, they are the right kind of person.

Beyond that, compatibility works the way it always has. Shared intent, similar lives, someone you actually want to spend time with.

What is the application process for?

The application protects the members already here. Our job is to serve you, and introducing someone before they are ready would hurt the people we serve. So we read every one, and we approve only members we would want to be introduced to ourselves.

The bar is not popularity. It is readiness. If we would introduce you to a friend of ours, we will introduce you to another member. If not, we will tell you honestly and, when we can, tell you what would help you get there next time.

How can I trust Layla?

Layla was built by someone on the same journey as you. It exists because the person who built it needed it too. Every feature, every rule, every design choice comes from having lived the problem.

Trust starts with knowing who is on the other side of the app. It is not a marketing team, or an investor deck, or a general dating platform trying to reach a new audience. It is people who understand what you are looking for because they were looking for it themselves.

What if I do not get matches straight away?

You have to be in the game to win. There is no daily deck here, so introductions take as long as they take. Sometimes weeks, sometimes months, sometimes longer.

When we make one, it will be worth showing up for.

If it has been a long time and you want to know where things stand, write to us and someone will reply honestly.
